Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.
Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.
This marks his first trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
Victory also means he has secured 21 championships at 21 different events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
The player's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved service.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to create a third set.
Moutet rescued 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
