Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then located multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.

City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

An important representative stated the attack left him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
